Robbery suspect docked

One Mass Njie was recently arraigned before Presiding Magistrate Ebrima Kijera of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on charges of going armed in the public, attempted robbery and threatening violence contrary to the laws of The Gambia.

The prosecution alleged that the accused, on or about the 1st September 2015 in Kanifing South, in the Kanifing Municipality was found with a cutlass at a public place without lawful authority, causing threat to the public.

The prosecution further alleged that the accused on the same date and place, threatened to injure one Elizabeth Daniels, a cashier at Panna Financial Bureau, with a cutlass.

The prosecution also alleged that the accused on the same date and place attempted to rob Elizabeth Daniels, a cashier at Panna Financial Bureau by using a cutlass.

The accused, Mass Njie however pleaded not guilty to the charges and he was subsequently remanded in prison custody, after granting the prosecution’s application, led by Chief Inspector Fadera for the accused to be remanded in custody as he described him as a threat to public security.
