Veseevete said this on Tuesday while responding to reports in a local English daily earlier this week that a group of prominent RDP members, including some members of the party’s Central Committee (CC), is expected to leave the official opposition party this week for Swapo.
The mass cross-over is reportedly planned for Thursday.
“I refute the allegations to be rumours until the party is officially consulted by those who are rumoured to be leaving,” the youth leader said in a telephonic interview with Nampa on Tuesday.
The outspoken youth leader said if those defecting are CC members they should “know better” and follow the party’s policies.
This involves the writing of an official letter addressed to the top leadership of the party and tendering members’ official resignation.
“That has not happened as the so-called defectors have not approached the party yet. We will just have to wait until Thursday to see for ourselves. These are just rumours. It is politics,” Veseevete stated.
He said he does not understand why prominent RDP leaders would want to leave the party without following the correct procedures and without discussing their grievances with the rest of the party members.
The RDP youth leader also indicated that he does not know how many members are rumoured to be moving to the Swapo-Party.
