President Cyril Ramaphosa will later today, Thursday, 15 October 2020, present the South African Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan to a Joint Hybrid Sitting of Parliament.
The Plan aims to expedite, in a sustainable manner, the recovery of South Africa’s economy that was, like most economies, deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The plan has been widely deliberated among government and social partners – business, labour and community – under the auspices of the National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC).
Earlier this month, the draft plan was tabled at the Cabinet Lekgotla – in which provinces and local government participated – with further inputs made at a meeting of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, which the President chaired.
