The President of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh has visited the proposed bridge construction site between Basse and Nyakoi in the Upper River Region of the country.
The visit was part of his ongoing Dialogue with the People Tour meant to assess this year’s cropping season at various selected farms, as well as to inspect development projects across the country.
Basse1The Gambian leader, earlier last year disclosed his government’s commitment to construct a bridge over the Basse-Nyakoi crossing point that links Basse to Wulli and Sandu in the Upper River Region. The proposed bridge has potential to further boost development in the URR by easing transportation of people and agricultural products.
The second Republic has clearly identified itself with trail-blazing feats of public infrastructure development nation-wide.
President Jammeh has so far built numerous bridges across the country, which have already enhanced communication thereby improving the socio-economic status of the people.
These bridges include: the Babili Mansa Bridge in Kerewan; Chamoi Bridge and Suduwol Bridge in Upper River Region; Karansane Bridge and Sankulay Kunda Bridge in Central River Region; Panneh Bridge in Kombo North; Marakissa Bridge in Kombo Central; Pakaliba Bridge in Lower River Region; Erinjang Bridge in Tanji, Kombo South; Bakoteh Bridge in Serekunda West; Kotu and Bundung bridges.
