President Jammeh gives 1000 bags of fertiliser to Bakau

The President of Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Dr Alhaji Yahya AJJ Jammeh Babili Mansa has donated 1000 bags of fertiliser to the farming community of Bakau.

Along with 945 buckets earlier donated to the community by the President, the fertiliser was presented on Tuesday at Bakau Banta and it was meant for the Bakau women horticultural gardeners.

fertiliser1This donation as highlighted by people of the community was in response to a request made to President Jammeh by Rambo Ousman Jatta, former councillor of Bakau/Fajara Ward on behalf of Bakau community.

Hon. Sheriff Bojang, Minister of Information, and Communication Infrastructure thanked His Excellency for this surprise gift and said the gesture, being the latest of a series recently, has shown that His Excellency the President has big heart for the people of Bakau.

He therefore urged the community to be united for greater and sustainable development.

Speaking earlier, Luntanding Jaiteh, the former Alkalo of Bakau, applauded President Jammeh for this surprise gift to the women of Bakau, and recognised the efforts of Rambo Ousman Jatta, in securing the donation.

Rambo Ousman Jatta thanked President Yahya AJJ Jammeh Babili Mansa for answering to their call. He as well called for unity among the people of Bakau for more development to take place, saying His Excellency is always ready to develop the community.

Jalamang Jatta, technical officer of Bakau Women’s Horticulture Garden; Aja Madiding Janneh; Alhaji Ousman Bojang; Sam Dubois, former APRC chairman; Ali Dubois among others all applauded His Excellency for the gesture.

The fertilisers will be distributed among different women groups in Bakau. They include: The Bakau Old Town Kabilo with 255 members; Bakau Wasulun Kunda Kabilo, 95 members; Bakau Katchikally Kabilo, 125 members; Bakau New Town Kabilo, 125 members; Bakau Sanchaba, and other women farmers in the community.
