President Cyril Ramaphosa will tomorrow, Thursday, 25 March 2021, participate in a Master Class for Members of the Executive, Heads of Departments and senior leaders from the local government sphere, the legislative sector and organs of state.
The theme for discussion is “The Entrepreneurial State and Mission Economy: Lessons and Opportunities for South Africa”.
The Master Class is organised by the National School of Government.
President Ramaphosa will deliver an intervention following a keynote presentation by world-renowned economist and member of South Africa’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
Mariana Mazzucato is Professor in the Economics of Innovation and Public Value at University College London where she is also the Founding Director of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose.
She is the author of three highly-acclaimed books, _The Entrepreneurial State_, _The Value of Everything_ and the newly released _Mission Economy: a Moonshot Guide to Changing Capitalism_.
Prof Mazzucato advises policymakers around the world on innovation-led inclusive and sustainable growth. She joined South Africa’s National School of Government as Senior Fellow in December 2020.
Since last December, the first cohort of 30 executive managers from South Africa have been participating in the Executive Education Programme offered by the NSG and UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose.
This programme aims to build the capacity of public servants who are expected to implement innovation-led economic reforms that address unemployment and low growth.
