I would like to send my heartfelt congratulations to the province’s 2019 matrics and teaching staff across the board, who recorded an improved pass rate of 82.3%.
Your hard work also saw the province record the highest number of distinctions and take the positions for the top three matrics.
We have already seen and heard the stories of matrics who have excelled against all odds and I look forward to seeing more of these inspiring stories over the coming days and weeks.
I would also like to thank all of the family members and communities who supported matrics through a tough year and the stressful exam period.
I call on all of those matrics who will be celebrating their results over the next few days to do so safely. You have achieved a milestone in your education, but you still have so much more to achieve.
I also want to say to those who are disappointed with their performance that there are many pathways to success and they need to look at all the opportunities available to them including re-marks, re-writes and opportunities for further study and development.
I look forward to seeing what the class of 2019 achieves in the future.
