WINDHOEK: President Hifikepunye Pohamba on Wednesday signed a book of condolences at the Algerian Embassy in Windhoek on the death of that country’s former President late Chadli Bendjedid
Late Bendjedid, aged 83, was reported died on the 6th of this month after a long illness.
In his massage message of condolences, President Pohamba expressed his sadness saying that the people of Algeria have lost a committed leader and statesman who implemented many positive policies that contributed to the socio-economic improvement of the lives of the Algerian people.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Republic Namibia, and indeed on my own behalf and that of my family, I would like to express to the people of the People’s Republic of Algeria and the family of his Excellency Bendjedid our heartfelt condolences,” he said.
He said that he is hopeful that the people of Algeria will recover from that great loss and engage themselves in their usual business of developing and further building of their country.
