Pretoria: Three people were killed after a plane crashed trying to land at Lanseria airport on Monday morning.

The plane, a Beechcraft King Air 90, was carrying one passenger and two crew members.

Lanseria Airport CEO Gavin Sayce told SAnews that the exact cause of the accident is not yet known.

“An investigation will reveal the cause of the accident,” he said.

The aircraft apparently burst into flames after the crash.

Despite the incident, the airport is fully operational.

At the time of the crash, it was raining heavily and visibility was poor.

Emergency services and personnel are still at the scene of the accident.
