The Otjozondjupa regional schools’ athletics took place at Paresis Sports Stadium in Otjiwarongo.
Educate Academy Private School hosted the event and Duiker, who attended the athletics, said it was properly planned and organised from beginning to the end.
The athletics saw primary school and secondary school learners from five school zones – Otjiwarongo, Grootfontein, Okahandja, Tsumkwe and Okara – compete against each other.
The athletes competed against each other in activities such as high and long jump, shot put, discus and javelin throw, and long and short-distance sprinting.
Duiker explained that all athletes who participated in the Otjozondjupa regional schools’ athletics fell in the Under-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19 categories.
The top three in each age group and sports category were selected to represent the Otjozondjupa Region at national level in the capital on 19 May this year, where a national team will be selected to represent the country.
The national team will represent Namibia at the Confederation of Southern Africa Schools Sports Association (COSASSA) competition in Harare, Zimbabwe, before June this year, Duiker explained.
