OPUWO: At least 30 cultural groups from the Opuwo Constituency are expected to participate in the constituency’s cultural festival set to take place here on Saturday.

Senior Cultural Officer for the Kunene Region in the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture, Brian Gonteb told Nampa on Thursday the festival is being held in order for the best cultural groups which will go on to compete in the regional cultural festival on 26 October this year, to be selected.

Gonteb said at least 600 participants will be performing during the constituency festival.

“We are going to select the best cultural group from each of the five categories to compete at regional level,” he explained.

The categories include the lower primary, upper primary, junior secondary and senior secondary categories. The fifth category is made up of out-of-school youth and adults.

The regional cultural festival will take place in Kamanjab in the Kamanjab Constituency.

The constituencies of Outjo, Sesfontein, Epupa, Kamanjab and Khorixas have already held their constituency cultural festivals and groups there have already been selected for the regional festival.
