ONGWEDIVA: The International University of Management (IUM) at Ongwediva in the Oshana Region hosted its first-ever trade exposition (expo) here from Thursday to Sunday.
Coordinator of the IUM Ongwediva Branch, Simata Mwiya, officially opened the expo on Thursday.
The expo is an initiative by a group of IUM students, headed by Nathaniel Heita, with the main objective of raising funds for an educational tour to be embarked upon soon.
A total of 34 small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) from the sister towns of Ongwediva and Oshakati participated in the expo.
Mwiya assured the participating SMEs that the IUM Ongwediva Expo will become an annual trading event.
“As an international university of management, we are proud to have a strong community of students with such innovative business ideas,” Mwiya stated.
He commended the participating SMEs, saying their involvement in the expo for a period of three days means a lot to the IUM, as they showcased their business ideas and strategies to students and acted as entrepreneurship lecturers.
According to Mwiya, the expo placed IUM students in a position to learn business strategies from the participating SMEs.
The IUM Ongwediva Expo was the first of its kind in the history of the university.
