WINDHOEK: The Ohlthaver and List Group of Companies (O&L) has been voted the overall winner in the Large Category of the 2012 Deloitte ‘Best Company To Work For’ Survey in Southern Africa.
This announcement was made on Thursday evening during a gala event held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
O&L Human Capital Director, Berthold Mukuahima said during a breakfast meeting in the capital on Friday that without doubt the accolade is an extraordinary and breakthrough milestone to achieve, advancing from the second-best in 2011 to the Best Company To Work For in Southern Africa in 2012.
O&L also retained its position as the best company to work for in Namibia in the large firm category for the second consecutive year.
“This did not come easy, and was an investment between management and employees. It took between eight and nine years to be bestowed this honour,” said Mukuahima.
Some of the criteria Deloitte looked at were the relations between employer and employees, communication, management reward system, Human Resources policies and procedures, and company ethics.
The runners-up for this prestigious award were Virgin Active South Africa and First National Bank Botswana.
O&L employs close to 5 000 people, making it one of the biggest employers in Namibia.
Deloitte is the brand under which tens of thousands of dedicated professionals in independent firms throughout the world, including Namibia, collaborate to provide audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management and tax services to selected clients.
