OKAKARARA: The Okakarara Trade Fair kicked off on Tuesday, with 232 exhibitors ready to showcase their products.
The trade fair, which takes place at Okakarara in the Otjozondjupa Region, will run until Sunday.
The Okakarara Trade Fair Society’s logistics and operations’ director Harold Hamauka told Nampa on Tuesday that the trade fair is split up into different categories such as agriculture, environment, entertainment, business and the marketing of corporate companies, Ministries and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The agriculture category includes small and large livestock exhibitions, and the entertainment will see visitors jiving to music and enjoying a beauty pageant set to take place on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Agriculture enthusiasts can look forward to the livestock exhibition, which is set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday.
“In the environment category, there are shows involving snakes, camels and other wild animals,” Hamauka explained.
On Tuesday morning, some exhibitors could still be seen erecting their stands at the A and B Halls, as well as on open spaces at the Okakarara Trade Fair Centre.
Representatives of companies like Telecom Namibia, Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) and Standard Bank Namibia, Ministries such as Trade and Industry as well as tertiary institutions like the Polytechnic of Namibia could be seen putting the finishing touches on their stalls.
The entrance fee to the trade fair for children is N.dollars 10, while adults pay N.dollars 15.
The event is expected to be officially opened by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Hage Geingob on Friday morning.
