TSES: Nine school boys from Nowak Primary School in Tses has complained of sexual molestation from other boys in the same school hostel and has reported the matter to the principal.

The alleged molested boys are in grades one and two.

A woman who says one of the victims is her nephew called Nampa on Tuesday complaining of the situation.

“I want to see action from the school and then we will step in as a family, to see what we can do,” she said.

A source from the school also told Nampa on condition of anonymity Tuesday, that last Tuesday an eight-year-old boy approached the principal and told him that he and his other colleagues have been molested.

Upon receiving the complaint from the boy, the principal approached the other eight boys and both allegedly confirmed the molestation against them.

The two sources also indicated that victims said the situation have been going on for long but could not say how long.

None of the suspected molesters was expelled from the hostel or the school yet.

Approached for comment on the matter, Deputy Director of Education in the Karas Region Celi Mostert confirmed Tuesday that her office received such report.

She stated that the matter is being investigated by the Regional Directorate of Education thus she could not give any further details.

“The matter is being investigated, we sent our regional school counselor there today to investigate the situation,” Mostert said.

School principal Jacobus Swartbooi refused to comment saying he is not aware of such allegations.

Tses is a village situated 80 kilometres north of Keetmanshoop town in the Karas.
