The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Tuesday informed that the user fees at its various services have been revised and will take effect from the 1st of February, 2014.
In a press release sent to the Daily Observer, the Ministry said for Gambian maternal and child health – pregnant women and children under 5 years) as well as those individuals infected with TB, HIV/AIDS and mental health are exempted from this measure.
The Ministry reassured the general public that providing quality healthcare services for the Gambia and its residents remains the priority of the government. It affirmed that making quality health care available, accessible and affordable to all living in the country needs public participation.
“Therefore, the cooperation of the public is highly needed,” it stated, adding that the full details of the new user fee will be made available to the public.
