NEW INTERIM BOARD APPOINTED AT SOUTH AFRICAN DEFENCE CONGLOMERATE DENEL

JOHANNESBURG– Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has announced the appointment of a new interim board for South Africa’s cash-strapped State-owned aerospace and defence technology conglomerate, Denel SOC Limited.

Monhla Hlala, former chairperson of the Airports Company of South Africa, has been appointed the new board chairperson, the Public Enterprise Ministry said in a statemtn Monday.

The rest of the interim board members are Zoli Kunene, Tshilidzi Marwala, General TT Matanzima, Gloria Serobe, Talib Sadiq, Sue Rabkin, Sibusiso Sibisi, Cheryl Carolus, Nonzukiso Siyotula, Thami Magazi, and Martin Mnisi.

Denel is the latest in a string of State-owned enterprises to undergo a shake-up because of governance and liquidity issues.
