WINDHOEK: Hitradio Namibia, the first private radiostation broadcasting in the German language was launched on Wednesday in the capital.

The station is focusing on information and music and can be heard at the central coast on 07.5FM and in the Namibian interior on 99.5FM.

“We can not only be heard in Walvisbay, Swakopmund and Hentiesbay on 97.5FM, but also in Windhoek, Rehoboth, Okahandja and Witvlei on 99.5FM and target the age group 15 to 65” said Hitradio Namibia, Chief Executive Officer Wilfried Hähner.”

“We want to positively report about happenings and achievements in Namibia and with that promote and support the goals and development objectives of the Government of the Republic of Namibia,” he added

“Allthough small in numbers, the German population group has the financial means to support and purchase the products and services of our advertising partners”, said Hähner.

He then thanked the Namibian Government for creating and ensuring a stable operating environment for the media.

“We enjoy peace, we enjoy political stability; what else can you wish for? And Namibia is the leader regarding press freedom in Africa,” he said.

As Hitradio Namibia is also broadcasting via internet livestream, this station can be a very important marketing tool for Namibia, for the tourism sector and for the business world, he added further.

The station has its own Facebook page (Hitradio Namibia) and its own website (www.hitradio.com.na).
