KEETMANSHOOP:The case of a member of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) accused of being involved in a hit-and-run accident here last week, has been postponed to 26 September this year.
The 35-year-old Tuhafeni Lukiilo appeared before Magistrate Philanda Blockstein-Christiaan in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The accused was not asked to plead and the case was postponed in order for him to obtain legal representation. Lukiilo’s bail of N.dollars 1 000 was extended.
He was seen applying for legal representation at the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Thursday morning.
Lukiilo stands accused of hitting three people walking in the Lemoen Draai residential area here with his Toyota Cressida last Thursday evening.
He then allegedly fled the accident scene, but handed himself over to the police on Saturday.
His car, which he had left at the scene, was impounded by the police.
The victims, who sustained numerous injuries and are currently recovering at home, are 63-year-old Sofia Jahs, her granddaughter Armandu Jahs, aged nine, and 10-year-old Viorte Kooper.
