Naidjala retains WBO Interim Africa Bantamweight title against Tanzanian boxer Shabani Kilumbelumbe

WINDHOEK: Immanuel ‘Prince’ Naidjala retained his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Interim Africa Bantamweight title in a fight against Tanzanian boxer Shabani Kilumbelumbe here last night.

The young Namibian pugilist beat Kilumbelumbe with a technical knockout (TKO) in the fourth round of the fight, which took place at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino.

The Prince gave his challenger a hard time from the first round until the fourth round, when after just one minute and 35 seconds the Tanzanian was knocked out.

This was Naidjala 16th consecutive win, while Kilumbelumbe’s record now stands at 15 fights – 10 wins, three losses and two defeats.

The Namibian was last seen in action against Ecuadorean veteran boxer Luis Singo, whom he defeated via an eighth round stoppage.

The main supporting fight last night was won by Hamunyela Pohamba Eradius, who defeated the hard-hitting Nicola Mutonoro from Zimbabwe for the National Welterweight title over 10 rounds on a unanimous decision.
