The Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury will host a two – day Supply Chain Indaba on 28- 29 September 2017 at City of Mbombela.
The Indaba under the theme “Going back to Basics” seeks to address the challenges in the procurement system, practices and processes, and further build intervention strategies in improving the systems.
The focus will be on assessing the impact of these procurement systems on government and business, and to chart a way forward on province-specific interventions to enhance implementation of a public procurement policy in the Province, said MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Mr Sikhumbuzo Kholwane presenting his policy and budget speech in May.
“The Indaba will further serve as a platform to orientate the suppliers on the new Preferential Procurement Policy and Regulations, Government Nutrition model as well as our Social Enterprise Development Model, which all seeks to revolutionalise public sector procurement,” said MEC Kholwane.
Amongst the invited stakeholders will include the Auditor – General, National Treasury, Heads of Department, Municipal Managers, Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Heads of Supply Chain Management Units, Supply Chain Management Practitioners and representatives for businesses, organized labour, small micro – medium enterprises, cooperatives and organisations of disabled people.
