GOBABIS: In an effort to root out corruption and empower the youth on its various aspects, the Ministry of Youth at Gobabis will be setting up anti-corruption clubs for young people at the town.
The clubs, similar to youth health clubs such as TADA (Teenagers Against Drug Abuse) and AIDS awareness clubs, will carry out vital education on graft and how to avoid it for the communities in which the youths live.
The Acting Head of the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture’s office at Gobabis, Eckey Karuuombe told Nampa yesterday that the initiative was conceived after a visit by a delegation from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) earlier this year.
Karuuombe said the ACC will be providing technical assistance to the initiative, such as training of trainers for the youngsters who will be carrying out the outreach programmes.
According to Karuuombe, the programme will mostly target out-of-school youth and street children.
An official launch of the initiative is planned for the near future.
