Ministry bids farewell to Mr Manyi

_: The Ministry in the Presidency for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation wish to announce the expiry of the contract for the Chief Executive Officer of the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) and Cabinet Spokesperson, Mr Jimmy Manyi. Mr Manyi left his position on 25 August 2012, after serving his full three year contract.

He joined GCIS in February 2011 from the Department of Labour where he was transferred to complete the rest of his contract as Director-General in the public service. He brought with him wealth of experience both in the public and the private sector to this position. Mr Manyi has done sterling work in this position communicating decisions of Cabinet and government policy to the media and the country.

“Mr Jimmy Manyi was very instrumental in communicating government programmes particularly the five priorities of government to the people of South Africa. He has made a good contribution to government communication and Cabinet communication processes. On behalf of the President, Cabinet and government I would like to thank Mr Manyi for his contribution to government communication” says Minister Chabane.

The Minister would like to wish Mr Jimmy Manyi well with his future endeavours either in the private or public sector. In his absence, the Minister has appointed Ms Phumla Williams, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Corporate Services as the acting Chief Executive Officer until the position has been filled. The Ministry wish Ms Williams well in discharging her responsibilities.

The position of the Chief Executive Officer will be advertised and filled after a suitable candidate has been found.
