Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Kotzias on visit to the United States of America (Washington, D.C.-New York City 21-25 May 2018)

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Kotzias, will meet in Washington D.C., on Monday, 21 May, with the Secretary of State of the United States of America, Michael Pompeo. Discussion will focus on issues concerning bilateral relations and matters of regional interest, with emphasis on the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean. A meeting with Assistant Secretary of State Wess Mitchell will take place earlier.

On Tuesday, 22 May, Mr. Kotzias will meet with the U.S. President’s National SecurityAdvisor, John Bolton.

Mr. Kotzias will also have meetings with leading members of the U.S. Congress, including the Co-chairs of the Congressional Hellenic Caucus and the Congressional Hellenic Israeli Alliance (CHIA), and representatives of the academic community.

He will then travel to New York City, where, on Wednesday, 23 May, he will meet with the Secretary-General of the UN, Antonio Guterres. The talks will focus on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and on the ongoing negotiations on the resolution the fYROM name issue. Progress in the UN reforms will also be discussed.

On the same day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will have a working luncheon with the President of the UN General Assembly and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, Miroslav Lajcak.

On Thursday and Friday, 24 and 25 May, in New York City, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet anew with his fYROM counterpart, Nikola Dimitrov, with the UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy, Matthew Nimetz, in attendance.
