Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias’ statement upon arrival at the informal working dinner of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs (Berlin, 14.05.2022)

I look forward to a particularly interesting working dinner. The main topic in the “menu” is the Russian invasion of Ukraine and also something which I believe is of huge importance for all NATO member states: the issue of NATO membership of Sweden and Finland.

Greece maintains excellent relations with these two countries over time. They are also member states of the European Union. Therefore, the Greek side has a perfectly clear position: we are ready to welcome Sweden and Finland to the NATO family. We believe they have a lot to offer.
