Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias’ statement upon arrival at the EU Foreign Affairs Council (Luxembourg, 18.10.2021)

To begin with, I had the opportunity today to host Libyan Foreign Minister Najla El Mangoush at the EU Foreign Ministers’ working breakfast.

We had the opportunity to discuss all the multifaceted aspects of the situation in Libya and the assistance that the European Union can offer for the normalization of the situation, the forthcoming elections and the rapid withdrawal of mercenaries first, but also of all foreign troops from Libya.

I also look forward to the Council today and the briefing that Cypriot Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides will give on Turkish unlawful conduct in the Cypriot Exclusive Economic Zone, but also on Turkey’s unlawful conduct against the sovereign rights and sovereignty of the Republic of Cyprus.

After all, this is related to the violations of Greek sovereign rights and Greek sovereignty from the part of Turkey in the previous days.
