In this context, stress was put on the need to defend and preserve the status quo in the Holy Land, based on legality and transparency. In light of the ever-increasing instances of it being disputed, the protection of this status quo, which has ensured for centuries the peaceful coexistence of all religions, takes on increased importance.

The Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs also referred to the age-old ties of Hellenism and the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, expressing his readiness to provide support to the difficult work of the Patriarchate.
