Minister Nomvula Mokonyane meets Political Steering Committee of Emfuleni Local Council, 1 Dec

The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Nomvula Mokonyane, will tomorrow, 1st December, at 12h00 meet with the Political Steering Committee of Emfuleni Local Council at the Council Chambers in Vanderbijlpark. The meeting is meant to discuss the council’s proposed payment of bulk water services following the recent water challenges in the area. Rand Water had progressively reduced water supply to the municipality by 20%, and 40%, ultimately 60% because of an outstanding R400 million bill that the Council owes to the utility over a period more than two years.

The Political Committee consists of the Gauteng MEC for Human Settlement, Emfuleni Mayor, Rand Water and Minister Mokonyane.

After the meeting Minister Mokonyane together with the Mayors of Emfuleni and Sedibeng will address the local stakeholders at Sedibeng District Theatre at 14h00.
