WINDHOEK: The late Minister of Education, Dr Abraham Iyambo was laid to rest at the Gammams cemetery in Windhoek today.
Despite the hot conditions, thousands of mourners gathered at the Gammams cemetery (formerly known as the Pionierspark cemetery) to pay their last respects to the late Education Minister.
The 52-year-old Iyambo died in London in the United Kingdom (UK) last Saturday.
Iyambo, who was well-known for his work ethic and dedication to his duties, had been in the UK to attend an education conference when he passed away.
His remains were repatriated from London on Thursday and a memorial service was held in his honour at Parliament Gardens in the capital yesterday.
A number of wreaths were placed on top of the grave, including by President Hifikepunye Pohamba and founding President Sam Nujoma, as well as from Members of the Diplomatic Corps.
