Transport Minister Addresses African Ports and Rail Evolution Conference and Inspects Operations at Durban Container Terminal
KwaZulu-Natal: The Minister of Transport Mr. Fikile Mbalula will, on Tuesday 15 October 2019 deliver a Keynote Address to international rail and Port captains of industry delegates attending the African Ports and Rail Evolution Conference at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban. Minister Mbalula’s address will highlight and emphasize the significance of international and Regional integration, economic transformation and development in the rail and ports industry.
The Conference brings under one roof, experts and specialists on Ports and rail transportation across the Region and globe from countries such South Africa, Zambia, Namibia, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Italy and Seychelles among others.
During the conference, delegates will deliberate on pertinent issues affecting the ports and rail industry across the continent and globe.
Following the keynote address, Minister Mbalula will undertake an induction tour and on-site inspection of operations at the Container Terminal at the Durban Port on board the Isiponono vessel. The Minister will receive a debriefing on Port systems, plans on Port efficiencies, inland strategies, the Oceans Economy and Empowering Women in the Maritime Industry.
In recognition of Excellence in the Maritime and Transport industry, Minister Mbalula will also address and present Excellence Awards to deserving achievers during the Women in Transport Awards Ceremony later in the early evening.
