Minister Bathabile Dlamini closes 2016 National Youth Camp

The Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will close the Fifth National Youth Camp currently underway at the 3 South African Infantry Battalion, in Kimberly, Northern Cape Province.

Hosted in partnership with the Department of Defence and Military Veterans, the National Youth Camp has brought together more than 1000 young people across race, ethnicity, gender, class and language from all nine provinces with the aim of promoting national identity, nation building, social cohesion, patriotism and active citizenry under the theme #40YearsOn – Youth still moving South Africa Forward.

The camp which opened on December 3 has seen young people participating in a number of sessions aimed at shaping them into empowered community leaders who will go back to their respective communities and be agents of change. During the closing ceremony, they are expected to share some of the ideas they hope to implement in their respective communities with Minister Dlamini.

The Minister is also expected to talk to the youngsters about the dangers of alcohol and drug use as we head into the festive season.
