OTJIWARONGO: Members of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Sunday retrieved the decomposed body of a man from a refuse water dam at Okahandja.
Otjozondjupa Police Regional Crime Investigations’ Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb told Nampa on Monday that the body is said to be that of mentally-ill Elwin Kanagure, 31, from Okahandja.
He said a case of a missing mentally-ill man was reported to the Okahandja Police Station on 30 August this year.
“On Sunday afternoon, we received a report from Okahandja municipal workers that there was a decomposed body of a human being floating in a refuse dam of Meatco in Okahandja,” he noted.
Kanagure’s family confirmed that it is his remains.
The police ruled out any foul play, and investigations continue to determine the circumstances of death under inquest docket no. 17/2012.
