The MEC responsible for Roads and Transport, Mr Lehlogonolo Masoga has vowed to work faster, better and efficiently in his drive to deliver quality services to the people of Limpopo.

Few hours after he was sworn in Masoga wasted no time of basking in the glory of the new appointment but met with the department’s executive management team including the Head of the department, Hanli du Plessis. Masoga further met with the department’s administrator, Mr Mathabatha Mokonyama on Monday 22 July 2013.

The administrator outlined the progress the intervention team has made since the department was put under section 100 1 (b) of the constitution of the Republic of South Africa. The administrator has assured MEC Masoga that with the progress made by the intervention team and the leadership of the department they are optimistic to obtain an unqualified audit opinion.

Masoga emphasised that the Department of Roads and Transport should live and fulfill the objective of its mission which is to provide safe, sustainable and integrated transport infrastructure services for the promotion of socio economic development.

The MEC will immediately be meeting with all stakeholders relevant to the department. This will help him in better responding to the challenges and further strengthening the relationship the department has with its stakeholders. “We are aware of the acute backlog of road infrastructure development in the province. We will, however, work with speed and within the resources available to us in order to better deliver quality services to our people,” said Masoga.

The Department of Roads and Transport has entered a new era of doing thing faster, better and efficiently. The people of Limpopo can be assured that Masoga will dedicate all his energy to improving service delivery and eventually achieving the noble objective of a better life for all.
