MEC Gaolaolwe swop office to visit housing projects
The MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements in Bokone Bophirima, Galaletsang Gaolaolwe has taken her oversight role a further by visiting housing projects across the province to track progress.
This follows a series of engagements she held at the end of last month with developers in all the four districts wherein she made an undertaking to visit housing projects to track progress and do quality assurance.
MEC Gaolaolwe yesterday visited a housing project in Tshing near Ventersdorp in housing in JB Marks local municipality. The developer had been allocated 219 housing units in 2015 but had only completed 10 units, 90 foundations and 45 wall plates. At one of the houses, she was alerted of a poor quality concrete mixture.
”Our housing delivery agenda cannot be compromised by developers who do not do quality work and do not stick to the time frames. Our communities are pinning their hopes on us to provide them with houses and we cannot fail them. We want to nip this problem of poor service delivery, in the bud”, she said.
