WINDHOEK: The Meatco Board of Directors and management has welcomed the appointment of Advocate Vekuii Rukoro as chief executive officer (CEO) at the meat corporation.
Rukoro will commence his duties on 01 March 2013, taking over from current CEO Kobus du Plessis, whose employment contract comes to an end in April 2013. During his last month, Du Plessis will be showing Rukoro the ropes and officially hand over his duties.
Du Plessis indicated to the Meatco management that he was not available for an extension of his contract.
“Meatco is delighted to welcome someone of Rukoro’s calibre to lead it further into the future.
The board commenced a lengthy and thorough recruitment process to replace Kobus Du Plessis in 2012, and this process culminated in the identification and subsequent appointment of Rukoro as Meatco CEO,” said Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and Public Relations at Meatco, Ebben Kalondo in a media statement issued on Tuesday.
Rukoro, who has served as Group CEO of FNB Namibia Holdings since 2006, will vacate that post on 28 February 2013.
He was also the CEO of Sanlam Namibia from 2000 to 2006.
