_: KEETMANSHOOP: A 27-year-old-man on the run from police in Keetmanshoop in the Karas Region died in the Otjiwarongo State Hospital in the Otjozondjupa Region on 20 July when he had an apparent heart attack.
Donvin Ashlin Kaffer was arrested in Otjiwarongo on 19 July.
He reportedly fled there after allegedly stabbing a 64-year-old woman and stealing her car, money, a rifle, two gold rings and two cellphones at Farm Grundon in the Klein Karas area near Keetmanshoop on 07 July.
The victim, Dennies Moira Loftie-Eaton, sustained multiple stab wounds in the attack in which Kaffer also took South African Rands 3 750, 15 live rifle bullets and six litres of petrol.
The rings, valued at N.dollars 38 000, Rands 900, the car, rifle and cellphones were recovered by the police.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Crime Investigations’ Coordinator for the Karas Region, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Isaak told Nampa today that the police received a tip-off, leading to the suspect’s arrest in Otjiwarongo, a distance of about 740 kilometres from the scene of the crime.
