ONGWEDIVA: Police in the Ohangwena Region confirmed the arrest of a 40-year-old man, who is accused of chopping his lover to death with a panga at Epuku village in the Endola area of that region, on Thursday.

The Namibian Police (NamPol)’s Crime Investigation Coordinator in the Ohangwena Region, Deputy Commissioner Abner Agas confirmed this to NAMPA in a telephonic interview from Eenhana on Saturday.

The suspect allegedly attacked the deceased with a panga, following a quarrel between the two at that village’s cuca shops.

Agas identified the deceased as 35-year-old Tangi Martin, who is said to have died on the spot. The suspect, according to unconfirmed reports, was accusing the deceased of having love relations with another man.

Asked to give more details as to how many times the deceased was chopped, Agas said this was not yet determined.

Police could not release the identity of the suspect, on the grounds that he has not yet appeared before court.
