WINDHOEK: A man who was arrested in April this year for alleged money laundering after N.dollars 30 million was inexplicably deposited into his bank account at Katima Mulilo, has still not undergone psychiatric observation.
A booking for a check-up has been made at the Windhoek Central Hospital’s psychiatric section but the accused, Amos Warren Mumbone, is currently still on the waiting list to undergo observation.
Mumbone will have to undergo mental observation for 30 days in terms of Section 79 of the Namibian Procedures Act in order to determine his mental fitness before the trial of his alleged money laundering case can begin before court.
This was made public by Public Prosecutor Samantha Diergaardt as the 42-year-old suspect made another appearance before Windhoek Magistrate Ingrid Lerato Unengu here this morning.
His case was, thereafter, remanded until 05 November this year in order for him to undergo mental observation which will determine whether he is fit to stand trial and understand court proceedings.
Mumbone was also again today remanded in police custody at the Windhoek Police Station’s holding cells with no option to post bail until his next court appearance.
NDIYONA; A 27-year-old man appeared in the Ndiyona District Court today in connection with the alleged rape of his eight-year-old biological sister.
The young girl was allegedly raped at Dikunga village, which is situated 200 kilometres east of Rundu in the Mukwe area on Sunday.
The suspect (name withheld) reportedly chased their other sister out of the homestead and when she left, he took his eight-year-old victim into a traditional hut, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The accused was not asked to plead during his first court appearance in front of Ndiyona district Magistrate Hellen Olaiya.
He was informed of his right to engage the services of a legal practitioner of his own choice, whereafter the case was postponed to 15 November this year for further police investigations.
The accused was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
