RUNDU: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Kavango region on Monday arrested a 52 year-old man after he allegedly murdered a woman at Satowa village situated some 100km south of Rundu in the early morning hours of Monday.

NamPol’s Kavango Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton told Nampa on Tuesday that the suspect allegedly beat the deceased with a stick several times on the left side of her neck and died on the spot.

Bampton said although no open wounds were inflicted, bruises were observed on the deceased’s body.

The motive behind the alleged killing has not yet been established by the police yet, as investigations are underway.

The deceased was identified as Kasiku Mpunde, a resident of the Satotwa village and the deceased next of kin were already informed.

The suspect whose name is known but cannot be revealed is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrates court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Crime Co-ordinator said the police are still searching for suspect/s who allegedly murdered a 25-year-old man with a sharp object early this week between Sunday evening and the early hours of Monday.

The deceased was found dead at the Kehemu informal settlement on the outskirts of Rundu.

He was found with several wounds on his body that could be from a panga, an axe or a knife.

The deceased was identified as Eliphas Muhoka, a resident of the Kehemu informal settlement.

deputy Commissioner Bampton earlier said it seems as if the deceased tried to escape from his attacker/s, because he was found dead far away from where he was attacked.

The police chief thus appealed to anyone in the vicinity of Rundu with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect/s to approach their nearest police station, or contact him personally.
