Malawi is “heavily involved in peace-making” in the southern African region and the Great Lakes region, according to the country’s head of state.
President Peter Mutharika made the remarks after a meeting on peace and security in Africa on the margins of the UN General Assembly’s annual debate.
Malawi has also contributed its troops to peacekeeping missions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan and Somalia.
It also sent envoys to Lesotho following a foiled military coup on 31 August this year.
President Mutharika also spoke to Joseph Msami about the strides made regarding the UN’s anti-poverty goals.
