PRETORIA, April 26– The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) has condemned the US aggression against Cuban territory and sovereignty through the so-called project ZunZuneo.
In a communique, Cosatu recalled that the Washington-basked plan was to incite the people to hold mass rallies, promote internal subversion, destabilization, triggering crisis in the Island to serve US interests.
Along with the African National Congress and the Communist Party of South Africa, Cosatu is part of the Tripartite Alliance leading in Union Buildings since the dismantling of the apartheid regime in 1994.
In his text, Cosatu, the major union federation of South Africa, says that the government of the United States, through its U.S. Agency for International Development, conceived and operated a social network similar to Twitter in Cuba to trigger destabilization.
Cosatu condemns these cowardly, illegal actions that violate international law, peaceful coexistence and sovereignty of the Cuban people and the entire world, says the communique, adding that “we have seen this same type of US-backed political distabilization in Venezuela, Nicaragua and other states aimed at overthrowing democratically elected governments.”
Cosatu also demanded the release of anti-terrorist Cuban fighters unfairly held in US prisons Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Lababino and Antonio Guerrero and the immediate end of the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba.
