MARIENTAL: The Khomas Regional Police team is the overall winner of the 2012 annual Police Sports Championships that ended here on Saturday.
Khomas Police officers retained the floating trophy they won last year.
The Khomas volleyball team defeated Oshikoto with three sets to nil during the final game on Saturday. Khomas also won the volleyball event last year.
In netball, Khomas beat Kavango with 32-12 to win the trophy, won by the Erongo Region last year. Khomas also walked away with trophies and gold medals in chess and darts.
The central region also won the overall title in 2005 when it took place in Opuwo, Kunene Region.
Hardap Regional Sports Officer, Chief Inspector Gerson Garoëb told Nampa in an interview on Sunday that his region managed to retain its football trophy won last year.
Hardap beat Kunene 2-0 in the final on Saturday. Meanwhile, the 19th Namibian Police Force (NamPol) annual Sports Championships will take place in May 2013 in Windhoek.
