KENYAN PRESIDENT TO ADDRESS 106TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIOS OF OUTH AFRICA’S RULING ANC PARTY

EAST LONDON, SOUTH AFRICA, Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta will address the 106th anniversary celebrations of the African National Congress (ANC), South Africa’s ruling party, in East London in Eastern Cape Province, Thursday.

President Kenyatta, who was sworn in for his second and final term in November, arrives in South Africa on Thursday on his first foreign visit since his inauguration.

He will be the chief guest during the ANC NEC meeting in East London and is expected to deliver a keynote address touching on pan-Africanism and the role of political parties in promoting democracy in Africa.

The ANC cadre has in the past pointed to President Kenyatta’s father, former president Jomo Kenyatta, as among the African freedom fighters who inspired the South African struggle for independence.

Ahead of the ANC celebrations, Kenyatta will meet President Jacob Zuma for bilateral talks, a follow up of President Zuma’s visit to Kenya last year.

Kenya and South Africa are economic giants in their respective economic blocs.
