KEETMANSHOOP: The 2012 Keetmanshoop Agricultural and Industrial Show will focus on forming strong smart partnerships between the different agricultural industries.
The show, now in its 56th year, will start at 15h00 on Wednesday with a chain of people holding hands from the Swakara statue in Keetmanshoop to the showgrounds, covering a distance of about 3 kilometres. Thousands of residents were requested to participate.
“We want to bring everybody together from Swakara to communal farmers, so that we can continue to host a successful show, hence the chain of people holding hands as a sign of promoting partnerships among farmers,” said Keetmanshoop Show Society (KSS) president Leon van Wyk on Tuesday.
He told Nampa that farmers need each other, so that they can help grow the industry.
Van Wyk added that this year’s show will be bigger than the previous ones, as there are more exhibitors this year.
The animal auction, entertainment by local artists as well as the crowning of Miss Show Queen, will also be bigger and better.
The show aims to promote local agricultural products, and also provides a platform for local farmers to sell their products and exchange business ideas.
This year’s show is being hosted under the theme:”Embracing the future through smart partnerships”.
It ends on Saturday.
