Johanna Benson won her country’s first silver medal at Paralympic Games

WINDHOEK: Namibian paralympian Johanna Benson on Sunday evening won her country’s first silver medal at the 2012 Paralympic Games underway in London.

Benson ended second in the T37 women’s 100m race in a time of 14.23 seconds, behind France’s Mandy Francois-Elie (14.08 seconds).

Neda Bahi from Tunisia ended third in a time of 14.36 seconds.

Benson qualified for the final as one of two fastest losers in the heats earlier in the day.

She will be in action again on Wednesday in the women’s 200m race at 11h49 local time.
