OTJIWARONGO: An Italian photojournalist was admitted to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital on Friday morning after the vehicle she was driving overturned three times on the Okahandja-Otjiwarongo road.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Otjozondjupa Traffic Officer, Sergeant Steve Biko Hoeseb told Nampa at the accident scene on Friday that Martina Bacigalupo, 34, was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Hoeseb said that it seems that the left rear tyre of the vehicle had a puncture, about 70 kilometres towards Otjiwarongo from Okahandja.
“It started to swerve across the road for some time until she lost control of it, and it overturned three times before landing on its wheels again,” explained Hoeseb.
Bacigalupo sustained light injuries, and received first aid on the scene before she was rushed to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for further medical attention.
Bacigalupo, an independent photojournalist in Genoa, Italy, arrived in Namibia from Italy on 26 September 2012, and was on her way to Tsumkwe in the Otjozondjupa Region when the accident occurred.
According to her travel documents seen by this reporter, Bacigalupo is supposed to be in Namibia for two weeks.
