High Commissioner Dembelé Commends Forces at Customs and Traditions Day in Nouna

Nouna: The High Commissioner of Kossi Province, Noufo Dembelé, expressed his appreciation for the commitment of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) during the celebration of Customs and Traditions Day (JCT) on Thursday, May 15, 2025. This event marked the second edition since its establishment on May 15, 2024, and witnessed the participation of all communities residing in Nouna. According to Burkina Information Agency, High Commissioner Dembelé emphasized the significance of the FDS and VDP's efforts in reclaiming the national territory. He encouraged the local population to foster social cohesion and unity. The president of the organizing committee, a representative of traditionalists, lauded the inception of this day dedicated to honoring customs and traditions. During the festivities, participants released sheet and fiber masks as a gesture of gratitude toward nature's gifts. The event featured local dances, showcasing the joy of community member s. Concluding the ceremonies, a traditional ritual was performed involving the sacrifice of a ram to seek ancestral blessings.
