She was subsequently discovered by community members floating dead in the river and alerted the police.

Kavango regional Nampol’s acting Crime Co-ordinator Detective Inspector Chrispin Mubebo confirmed the incident to this reporter on Thursday saying the body was recovered the same day in the evening.

This reporter has reliably been informed that the deceased whose name is known but cannot be revealed was apparently born as a female and had a female name, but as she grew up she changed to a male name and started presenting herself like a man and also wore male clothes.

Detective Inspector Mubebo said the first report the police got was that of male who drowned but identification documents in police possession indicates a female.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s sister whose name is withheld told this reporter during a telephonic interview on Thursday that her deceased sister had a female name but later changed to a male name.
“She changed when she grew up and started wearing male clothes,” the sister said.
