The medals will be handed over at the Okamatapati Police Station, situated over 100 kilometres south-east of Okakarara in the Otjozondjupa Region.
NamPol’s Otjozondjupa Regional Deputy Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner Gerhard Uataurua Mavenjono told Nampa in an interview here on Wednesday that the police officers are being recognised for their years of excellent service in the force.
The 26 officers have been serving in the police force for periods of 10 and 20 years respectively.
Mavenjone said the police officers were identified by the police management here on the basis of their exceptional and notable performances in their departments.
“We also judged them on their previous criminal records, and only those police officers who were found not to have criminal records will receive medals,” said Mavenjono.
He added that one of the medal recipients is the Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Co-ordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb, who will be awarded a creditable medal for his work in reducing crime in the region.
The awarding of medals on Friday coincides with the inauguration of the newly-built Okamatapati Police Station and some police barracks.
Safety and Security Minister, Immanuel Ngatjizeko and NamPol Inspector-General, Lieutenant-General Sebastian Ndeitunga are also expected to attend the two occasions.
