OPUWO: The police at Kamanjab are investigating the rape of a 15-year-old girl after she was attacked there on Saturday night.
A Namibian Police Force (NamPol) crime report availed to Nampa on Monday said the girl was raped at a friend’s room on Saturday at around 23h00. A 23-year-old suspect has since been arrested and investigations into the matter continue.
Also at Kamanjab, the police recovered three goats stolen from a 71-year-old farmer on Saturday. The goats belong to Alfons Edward Kaurutue, who farms in the Kamanjab area.
The police indicated that they responded quickly upon receiving a tip-off that someone was attempting to sell three goats without a livestock permit.
A 33-year-old suspect was then arrested after he was found trying to sell the goats at the Impala market and could not produce a livestock permit.
At Opuwo, the police are investigating a case of theft after the Opuwo Nampost office was broken into and money stolen. The incident occurred on Saturday night, but the police could not say at what time the post office was broken into or how much money was stolen. No arrests have been made yet and investigations continue.
